Personal Information and Therapy Style: Charlene has been a Marriage and Family Therapist with Lutheran Counseling Network in the south Puget Sound since 2001. She is trained in psychotherapy and family systems, and licensed to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples and family systems. Charlene received her mental health training in California and Washington (Seattle Pacific University). Her therapeutic approach may include aspects of cognitive-behavorial, solution-focused, psychodynamic and experiential approaches. She works with clients to help them attain their therapeutic goals, keeping the "end in mind." In order to maximize results, Charlene helps her clients to understand what they are experiencing while in therapy and how to keep the work going between sessions.

As a marriage and family therapist, Charlene believes that a family’s patterns of behavior influences the individual and therefore may need to be a part of the treatment plan. She believes that the “unit of treatment” isn't just the person -- even if only a single person is interviewed. It is the set of relationships in which the person is imbedded.

Charlene is on the board of directors for the Washington State Chapter of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Areas of Expertise: Charlene’s specialties include therapy for couples, individuals and families as well as premarital counseling. Her areas of focus include, but are not limited to, depression, grief, loss, anxiety, intimacy issues, separation and divorce, ADD/ADHD, marital distress and conflict, individual psychological problems, child-parent problems, as well as personal development and deepening of the self through interpersonal growth. She takes a holistic perspective to health care and is concerned with the overall, long-term well-being of individuals and their families.
