Personal Information and Therapy Style:
Kathleen (Kathy) received her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Sociology from Pacific Lutheran University.
Celebrating 30 years of marriage, raising two children and enjoying grandparenting and the interactions of five generations, gives Kathy first hand knowledge of 'the sandwich generation'.
Kathy's passion for assisting families develop and grow to face and walk through life's most critical issues has been a theme throughout work and volunteer experiences with high risk youth, single parents, the critically and terminally ill and families in reconciliation.
Kathy brings a foundational belief that problems are not the identity of the individual, but they are the actions or events reflecting a need for change. She believes the healing process is a spiritual journey and draws from her own faith walk and spirituality. Validating and giving voice to client's stories helps to reinforce personal strengths, resilience and resources. Kathy works with clients to co-design the therapy process using creativity and individuality to create space for change and achieve client goals.
Areas of Expertise:
Kathy works with individuals, children/teens, couples, families and groups addressing issues such as: anger, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, grief and loss, life transitions, relationships, communication, spirituality, marriage, child-parent and blended families. |
