Personal Information and Therapy Style

Are you feeling stuck? It happens to all of us. Whether in your work life, family relationships, intimate partner relationships, or the overall direction of your life, you are not alone if you feel trapped in ways of living and relating that don’t seem to get you anywhere, and leave you feeling frustrated, misunderstood and disconnected from those you care about.

That’s where therapy comes in. Working together, we can look at how patterns of thinking and relating get in the way of what you want for yourself and your relationships. In an atmosphere of safety and support, we will look at what goes on underneath these patterns, help you get in touch with your deepest aspirations and desires, and rebuild new ways of relating with authenticity and openness, both to yourself and to those around you.

I enjoy working with couples, individuals and families. I am experienced in dealing with a variety of issues, including: distance or conflict in your relationships, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety and depression, developing your identity, self-esteem, working through trauma, and parenting difficulties. The attachment approach found in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and Emotion Focused Therapy for individuals undergirds my work. I also utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. I enjoy working with clients from a variety of backgrounds and worldviews.

I earned my Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. I am a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. My husband and I have two adopted sons who are now young adults. I have 30-plus years of experience in teaching and ministry with children, youth and families.
