PURPOSE, IDENTITY and THEORETICAL ORIENTATION
I seek to serve individuals, couples and families that desire assistance, guidance and care in areas of emotional relational, and spiritual health and wholeness.
I am a Pastoral Counselor trained in the integration of clinical psychology and theology. Psychodynamic theory is the foundation of the training with integration of family systems, narrative, cognitive, behavioral, humanistic and existential theories. The theological component in the training equips me to support clients wishing to include spiritual and/or religious themes and orientations.
Spiritual Direction training equips me to companion people on their spiritual journey as they intentionally explore and discern their relationship with their context, personal experience and faith. My Spiritual Direction training is from the Christian orientation, however, I respect all belief systems, spiritual backgrounds and preferences. I am interested in how prayer, imagery, story and loss impact self-perception, creates themes, and ways of being that support healing, reconciliation and wholeness.
I have volunteered extensively with Bridges: A Center for Grieving Children by facilitating grief support groups, creating curriculum, teaching and participating on various committees. This experience has engaged my interest in how imagery, story and loss impact self-perception, create themes, patterns and ways of being that support healing, reconciliation and wholeness.
